The WAPS Calculator
Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get a unlocked copy?

The thing with this is, with an unlocked copy it is free for anyone to change or alter the formulas. While some changes are great, others may not be so great and could actually be incorrect. When that happens, I get emails regarding the error. For example, the first PT Calculator I released had a few errors in it. That was posted on my website over a year ago. I still get emails regarding that error because the user isn't aware this site exists to check for updates. Basically, I'd rather be the one to blame if something is wrong with a formula vs. wondering who changed it and get blamed for it.

My TIS/TIG points are incorrect according to your calculator.

Chances are you are calculating your time from TIS/TIG to today. This is incorrect! For TIS you need to calculate from your TIS to the last day of the last month of the promotion cycle you will be testing in. For TIG you need to calculate from your TIG to the first day of the last month of the promotion cycle you will be testing in.

I'm testing for SMSgt and my TIS points are wrong, I should receive more points.

Yes, this has happened (3 times)! E8/E9 TIS points are only up to 25 points where as E5-E7 TIS points are up to 40 points.

The calculator does not allow the feature to test for PDG only.

When you test PDG only, your PDG score is doubled to give you an overall score. So if you score a 63 on the PDG, your total score will be 126 plus all of your other scores (medals, EPR, TIS/TIG). So where you see a score for SKT, this is the score that is doubled from your PDG score.

Why does the BAH/COLA point to an external website?

The database tables are huge and would clog up the spreadsheet with weight and performance. It's already pretty clunky as it is now.

Why don't you have a MAC version?

Accordint to Google Analytics, 89% of the visitors that hit www.wapscalc.com are Internet Explorer users meaning they use Windows as their OS. This is in large part because many of the site visitors are from work stations. Due to the large amount of Windows users, I haven't yet expanded the calculator to MAC, yet. I recently purchased a MAC laptop and will be looking into buidling a version for MAC users in the future.
